Chocolat - Syndrome

I just stumbled onto this track digging through some charts from earlier in the year. It made a brief appearance on the charts in September, but to be honest I've never heard it out 'in the field', so to speak. Which surprises me becuase it's got a catchy chorus and the lead singer is... pretty fucking hot, to say the least.

Sistar - So Cool

Easily the best song of this autumn. I'm pretty weirded out by the dance choreography, I don't really understand it. But this song has gets you with its catchy chorus.

Orange Caramel - Shanghai Romance

Honestly watch this and tell me some melodic fragment is not stuck repeating itself in your brain. Honestly. Love how poppy and clean this track sounds.

Kara - Step

So I'm posting two new tracks from my favourite K pop group. Enjoy the Kara.

Kara - Jumping

Huge in Japan right now, making Japanese versions of all their songs. This is the K original. Enjoy.

Girls Generation - Mr. Taxi

Girls Generation, otherwise known as SNSD (because in Korean their name is pronounced seon-yeo-shi-dae), have released a catchy new track. The video somehow feels sterile compared with some of their finer achievements, like 'Gee'. And they definitely should have worked on an elevated bridge section, this one sounds sunken somehow, like a gray page behind the whole thing. Should have thrown some candy at it instead!

Nevertheless the video is very big-budget in an electronic-displays-are-everywhere kinda way, as is the trend in Korea right now, something I'm rather enjoying. Still, I'm a bit meh about the lack of sci-fi oriented videos... disappoint.

Enjoy the song!

Orange Caramel - Bangkok City

Another winning! moment from those Nordic songwriters. They know their shit those pale motherfuckers. Another track getting heavy play in the clubs.

KARA - Jet Coaster Love

Guess what!? Kara didn't break up! After they tried to terminate contract with their management company, some Japanese companies eagerly stepped in to offer them a better deal. Being shit scared of all this, their management gave them lots of money and reconciled their differences. Also the law suit lost steam after two of the girls realised they had no idea what the suit was about in the first place and simply gave it up.

It's all good in the hood. Because this track is hot off the press.

Dal Shabet - Pink Rocket

Like particle physics, the way they choose to name some of these groups is something quite beyond me. Nevertheless this is the groups first decent song. Don't know what a pink rocket is, suppose I could hazard a guess, but I'm not a vulgar man so I won't.

No Swedish songwriters here. I don't know why these groups still insist on the obligatory rap break down. I don't understand this trend, it's been around kpop since the 90's! Don't know why they can't see how uncool and dated it sounds.

4Minute - Mirror Mirror

They must have these Swedish songwriters working in shifts. You can hear the Euro dance coming through strongly on this one. This has been coming up in the clubs here too. Excellent video production as well!

A-Ing♡ - Orange Caramel

The interesting thing about this song is that the girls are ACTUALLY MADE of orange caramel!! HOLY FUCKING COW!!

Girls Generation - Genie

And now a classic hit from 2009. Where we realise the characteristic theme of the works of Girls Generation is not melodic-narrative discourse as such, but postnarrative lyric neodiscourse. Thus, a number of deconstructions concerning the role of the writer as artist may be discovered. The subject is contextualised into a material nihilism that includes truth as a totality.

4Minute - I My Me Mine

Dat strawberry blonde...

2ne1 - Kiss

In true Korean fashion this really great song is also an advertisement for a really shitty beer. Of all the things I miss in the real world that I wish upon my life in Korea, beer and wild animals definitely top the list. But beer is really important and I'm glad that the production team behind this music video have realised that.

Beer can also lead to romance, which is something they have aptly described here. Obviously under normal circumstances you wake up with a deep sense of regret and self loathing over what you have slept with. But sometimes beer does lead to a more prolonged sense of happiness as in this music video.

T-ARA - Yayaya

What's always great is a music video with a story line, mainly because they convey a sense of narrative which is an enjoyable element. I particularly enjoyed the acting talents of all the ladies involved in this video. Sterling performances all round! A round of applause! Now scroll down and watch Kara - Rock U because it's so awesome.
